1. Wardrobe digitisation — seven ways to add your clothes
Every wardrobe app starts with digitising your clothes. Aurelle offers seven methods — more than any competitor — because the faster you can build your digital wardrobe, the sooner the AI can style you.
Camera capture
Photograph any garment and AI analyses the image instantly: category, subcategory, colours, fabric, pattern, formality level, warmth rating, season, and fit type. Each item receives a clean AI-generated flat-lay image with a neutral background.
Bulk upload
Select multiple photos from your gallery and upload them in one batch. AI processes each image with the same detailed analysis. Available on Premium and Pro plans.
Order screenshot import
Screenshot a purchase confirmation email or order page. AI reads the product details from the image — brand, item name, colour — and creates the wardrobe entry automatically. Available on Premium and Pro.
Clip from web
Browse a product page in your phone's browser, tap Share, and select Aurelle. The app extracts the product image and details from the URL and adds it to your wardrobe. Works with most major retailers.
Outfit dissection
Upload a photo of yourself wearing an outfit. AI identifies and separates the individual garments — top, bottom, shoes, accessories — and adds each one to your wardrobe as a separate item.
Community search
Search a shared catalogue of commonly owned items. Find your exact piece (brand, colour, style) and add it with one tap — no photography needed.
Magic Start (seed wardrobe)
New users can choose from 75 curated starter items across three tabs: Basics (25 unisex essentials), Fluid & Draped (25 softer silhouettes), and Structured & Tailored (25 crisp, formal pieces). Selected items are added instantly with full AI metadata. Seed items are always free and never count towards your wardrobe item limit — giving you an effective 100+ item wardrobe on Basic (50 own items + unlimited seed).
2. AI outfit generation — the three-layer styling engine
This is Aurelle's core intelligence. When you open the app each morning, AI generates outfit recommendations composed entirely from your own wardrobe items. The engine operates on three layers:
Layer 1: Core fashion rules
Colour theory (complementary, analogous, and neutral palettes), proportion balancing (structured top with relaxed bottom and vice versa), occasion-appropriate formality, and fabric-season alignment. These are the fundamental principles that prevent a winter coat being paired with shorts.
Layer 2: Professional styling knowledge
Distilled from leading fashion authorities via a RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) knowledge pipeline. This includes proportional dressing, Kibbe body type styling, colour-season analysis, and European occasion dressing conventions. The AI doesn't just follow rules — it applies the kind of nuanced judgment a trained human stylist would.
Layer 3: Seasonal trend integration
Quarterly-updated trend data mapped against body types with SUITS / CAUTION / SKIP guidance. Not trend-chasing — trend-informed. The AI won't suggest something that's trending if it doesn't suit your body or Style DNA.
The engine also considers your outfit history (avoiding repetition), your feedback (likes and skips), and your preferences (colours you love, styles you avoid). Each batch generates 3–5 outfit options. You choose, swap individual items if needed, and go.
3. AI outfit collages
Every AI-generated outfit comes with a visual collage — a rendered image showing how the items look together, composed from your real wardrobe photos. This eliminates the mental guesswork of imagining whether a top works with those trousers. You see it before you wear it.
Collages are generated by GPT-4.1-mini (OpenAI) and are included on every outfit, on every plan. There is no limit and no token cost for collages.
4. Build Your Own
A full-screen drag-and-drop canvas where you mix and match any items from your wardrobe to create outfits manually. Drag a top, drop a bottom, add shoes and accessories — position them freely on the canvas and save the result.
Build Your Own is unlimited on every plan, with no token cost. It exists alongside AI generation — use AI when you want guidance, Build Your Own when you want creative freedom. Both approaches save to the same outfit collection and lookbooks.
5. Weather-aware styling
Every outfit considers real-time weather data from OpenWeatherMap: temperature (morning, midday, afternoon), humidity, rain probability, and wind. The engine uses feels-like temperature rather than raw readings for accuracy.
Layered shed strategy
When the day crosses 2 or more temperature thresholds (10°C, 16°C, 22°C), the AI builds a three-layer outfit where each layer works as a standalone look. The weatherNote describes the shed strategy: "Remove the blazer after 11am when it warms to 18°C; the cotton shirt underneath works on its own." No more carrying unnecessary layers or being caught underdressed.
6. Calendar-smart outfits
Connected to your Google Calendar, Aurelle reads your events and adjusts formality automatically. A morning with "Board Meeting" triggers structured, professional styling. An evening with "Dinner with Anna" shifts to relaxed but polished. No events? Casual default based on your Style DNA.
7. Style Persona & Aesthetic DNA
Style Persona
During onboarding, a personalised questionnaire captures your fit preferences, lifestyle, colour loves and avoids, favourite brands, and aesthetic direction. Aurelle maps these across 8 dimensions and visualises the result as a radar chart — your unique style fingerprint. It evolves as you use the app: every like, skip, and outfit choice refines it.
Aesthetic DNA moodboard
An AI-curated visual moodboard representing your style direction. Not what's trending — what resonates with you, based on your questionnaire responses and ongoing feedback. Accessible from your Profile and regenerated as your taste evolves.
8. Body Scan & Kibbe classification
An optional analysis that uses Claude Vision to assess your body proportions from wardrobe photos. Maps you to a Kibbe body type — a well-established classification system (developed by David Kibbe) that connects body geometry to clothing lines that naturally flatter.
The result isn't just a label. It actively influences every outfit recommendation: softer draping for Romantic types, structured tailoring for Dramatic types, balanced proportions for Classic types. The AI considers your Kibbe profile alongside your colour analysis and Style DNA for every outfit it generates.
9. Discover & Smart Shopping
Discover Looks
AI-generated shoppable outfits styled from brands and retailers — not your wardrobe, but inspiration you can actually buy. Each look comes with product links to retailers including H&M, ASOS, Zalando, Mango, and more.
Wardrobe gap analysis
AI identifies what's genuinely missing from your wardrobe — not what's trending, but what would create the most new outfit combinations with what you already own. A navy blazer might unlock 15 new outfit combinations. A third white t-shirt unlocks zero.
Smart shopping
When gap analysis identifies a need, Aurelle searches retailers for specific items that fill it, with direct product links and pricing. Shopping powered by Serper.dev, with affiliate links where available.
10. Travel packing
Tell Aurelle your destination, dates, and activities. AI fetches the destination weather forecast and builds a capsule wardrobe from your real clothes — with day-by-day outfit plans. Each day's outfit is styled for that day's predicted weather and planned activities.
Individual items can be swapped: tap any piece in the packing list and AI suggests alternatives from your wardrobe that work with the rest of the day's outfit. The result is a complete packing list — no overpacking, no forgotten essentials.
11. Wardrobe analytics
Data that helps you understand your wardrobe — and shop smarter:
- Cost-per-wear: Tracks how much each item costs you per use. A €200 blazer worn 50 times costs €4/wear. A €30 top worn once costs €30/wear.
- Forgotten items: Surfaces pieces you haven't worn in months, giving them a second chance.
- Seasonal distribution: Shows whether your wardrobe is balanced across seasons or skewed.
- Category breakdown: How many tops, bottoms, shoes, and accessories you own — and where redundancies exist.
- Most-worn pieces: Your wardrobe workhorses. The items earning their place.
12. Lookbooks & outfit history
Save your favourite outfits — both AI-generated and Build Your Own — to personal lookbooks. Create lookbooks by occasion (work, weekend, events), by season, or by mood. Browse your complete outfit history with occasion and vibe badges.
13. Magic Start onboarding
New users see the Magic Start screen during onboarding: 75 curated items across three tabs. Basics (25 universal essentials like white t-shirts, jeans, and trainers), Fluid & Draped (25 softer silhouettes), and Structured & Tailored (25 crisp, formal pieces). Tab names describe clothing styles, not genders — all tabs are accessible to all users.
A gender-based default tab surfaces the most relevant items first: female → Fluid & Draped, male → Structured & Tailored, other → Basics. Select at least 5 items (or Select All) and they're added to your wardrobe instantly with full AI metadata. This eliminates the cold-start problem — you can generate outfits from minute one.
14. Languages & privacy
8 languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Bulgarian, and European Portuguese. Auto-detected from your device language with manual override in Settings. All AI-generated content (outfit descriptions, styling rationales, body scan results) is generated in your chosen language.
Privacy: Built and hosted in Europe (EU data centres). Full GDPR compliance. Your wardrobe photos are processed for styling analysis only — never shared with third parties, never used for AI model training. You can export all your data or permanently delete your account at any time from Settings. Authentication via email/password, Sign in with Apple (iOS), or Sign in with Google (iOS + Android).
